WHAT IS SCURRY DOG?

Scurry Dog is a new activity and dog sport that features five exciting gundog games, with five levels of progression. The five games are Retrieve, Nose Quest, Everyday Dog, Sniff It Trail and Scramble Grid. Originating from the UK, inspired by gun dog training and gun dog shoots, each game offers a unique way to work with your dog’s natural needs and breed specific traits. Not only is it fun and relationship building, it assists with core skills for you and your dog to live harmoniously. It can minimise unwanted behaviours (e.g. jumping, barking, pulling on lead, not coming back when called, inability to settle or focus etc.) or assist to resolve existing issues with a creative and kind approach.

For many years we have been looking for an accessible and positive reinforcement based option of gun dog training to Australia. It was a goal of ours to provide gun dog parents (and anyone keen to try gun dog training with ANY breed) the ability to work with their dogs in a way that feels achievable, relevant to their everyday life and not feel intimidating. We knew Scurry Dog with its structure and like-minded core values, would integrate well with nosework, so we jumped in head first. We are so proud and excited to bring Scurry Dog to Australia and can’t wait for you and your dog to join us.

All Scurry Dog services are currently Brisbane based, but we are taking expressions of interest to take Scurry Dog Tasters on the road. Send us an email to go on the Scurry Dog contact/waitlist or express interest for us to bring Scurry Dog to your location.

SCURRY DOG TASTER WORKSHOP

$200 inc GST (2 – 3hrs)

Discover the fun and try something new in our Scurry Dog Taster Workshop. This 2-3 hour session (duration varies based on number of dogs booked) will introduce you and your dog to some of Scurry Dog’s gundog inspired games. These sessions will enable you and your dog to try out up to 3 of the Scurry Dog games or components of these games.

Interactive and hands on, these workshops are structured for you to learn something new in a friendly and supportive environment, and take home a happy (tired) and fulfilled dog.

Dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes and energy levels are welcome! These workshops are not limited to gun dog breeds only, everyone can enjoy the fun of Scurry Dog. Suitable for beginners, no prior training experience is required from dog or handler. We can modify the games in the workshop to the individual dog’s skills or any physical/medical limitations they may have.

Please be aware these are group workshops and dogs will be working simultaneously or in close proximity. This structure may not be suitable for nervous, anxious or reactive dogs. If you are unsure about your dog’s suitability, please contact us prior to booking.

We do love ‘Spicy’ dogs (we have our own in house spicy), and we are aiming to offer spicy dog specific Scurry Dog Taster Workshops and classes, so they too can benefit from this activity. Please contact us if you have a spicy dog and would be keen to book into a session specifically supportive to their needs.

No specialised equipment required, but this is what you may need:

Well fitting collar and/or harness
Long Leash (5-10m)
Lots of HIGH value treats (meat, cheese, Prime100 etc)
Your dog’s favourite toy/s (e.g. ball, tug, stuffed or squeaky toys, retrieving dummy or anything they may like to carry, hold or retrieve)
Water bowl
Mat/placeboard (if you have one/if your dog is trained to use one)
Anything your dog needs to feel comfortable in hot/cold weather while resting or waiting.
