Who We Are

Meet the Hide 'n' Seek family

Bec Hamilton

Dog Trainer & K9 NOSE WORK® INSTRUCTOR (CNWI)

Hello fellow dog enthusiast! Like most crazy dog ladies out there, I have been an animal lover since a child and I first entered the world of dog training with my dog, Bailey. Attending classes with him ignited my passion for working with and understanding dogs. After volunteering in classes, play groups and private consultations, I worked for years teaching and coaching at one of Brisbane’s most reputable dog training establishments before starting my own business, Hide ‘n’ Seek.

Hide ’n’ Seek is Brisbane’s first and only dedicated specialist service for canine
nosework (yes – we’ve done nosework with a few cats too!). We are all very much dog people and love to see your dogs experience such joy from nosework.

Discovering nosework opened up a whole new world for me, and after seeing the multitude of benefits for dogs, I became a K9 Nose Work® Certified Nosework Instructor. This search and scenting activity is inspired by detection dogs and is suitable for virtually all people and dogs. It builds confidence, optimism and focus in dogs and is a fun activity for everyone.

I am passionate about providing a safe and supportive environment for nervous, anxious and reactive dogs who are often overwhelmed in a regular group class environment. These dogs often have limited social interaction outside the home which can be isolating for them and their humans. I find joy in helping dogs and their humans — watching dogs develop more confidence, motivation, resilience and problem solving skills, and seeing the relationship between dogs and their humans flourish.

Hide ‘n’ Seek brings together dog-loving people who are interested in learning about nosework. My aim is for you and your dog to enjoy your time together at nosework, whether you are participating for fun, enrichment or have aspirations to compete.

Did You Know?

Dogs 'see' with their noses!

Hide 'n' Seek - Who We Are

Our canine friends have up to 300 million scent receptors, whereas humans only have around 5 million. Dogs can detect tiny amounts of scent diluted in air, water or far beneath the ground, enabling them to pick up odours that are diluted to 1 or 2 parts per trillion and things buried as far as 12 metres underground! Is it any wonder the nosework is the dog’s game!

SHY, NERVOUS, FEARFUL, ANXIOUS AND REACTIVE DOGS ARE MOST WELCOME, AS EACH DOG SEARCHES INDIVIDUALLY
